Gunvant Patil

Gunvant Patil is Assistant Professor at Texas Tech University in the Institute of Genomics for Crop Abiotic Stress Tolerance. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Pune, India. Gunvant served as a research scientist at the University of Minnesota-St. Paul. He also worked as a postdoctoral associate at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a visiting researcher at the SLU, Uppsala, Sweden. 

 

His research focuses on integrating genome engineering and genomics tools to (1) discover novel traits to improve disease resistance, nutrient uptake, and seed composition and (2) develop high-throughput technologies to improve genetic transformation and gene-editing platforms in recalcitrant crop species.
